I bought our first romanesco cauliflower this week.  It's that crazy bright green fractal looking vegetable that's front and center in the picture.  There was a little girl at the farmer's market who told me that it looked like a Christmas tree.

I also bought our first quince this week.  However, I failed to find out that you have to cook quince before it is palatable.  Silent partner ate it anyway.

If the bounty looks smaller than usual this time, that's because we ran 21 miles before making it to the market.  Our farm had experienced a bit of an error on the number of CSA boxes, so farmer John let us go around and pick our own assortment of about $25 worth of vegis.  We also got a gratis broken melon.  We managed to make a circuit of the market, despite our tired legs, to obtain lamb, cheese, flowers, and unsuccessfully look for dragon tongue beans (since I learned after last week that the older, shriveled pods produce the most beautiful looking beans).  Also, based on my experience last year, I bought many macintosh apples.

Bounty List
lamb chops
zucchini
summer squash
cipollini onions
macintosh apples
dahlias, 2 bunches
watermelons
nectarines
peaches
strawberries
garlic
parsley
carrots
corn
red leaf lettuce
tomatoes
potatoes
cucumbers
poblano peppers
garlic pepper havarti (willamette valley creamery)
shallots
